The presence of ads in every app, webpage, and program has become the subject of many memes and much frustration. Utorrent is not immune to this ad plague, and you’ll see a ton of ads pop up all over the place in the program while it’s running, but there is a way to stop this so that you can download in peace.

How to Get Rid of Ads in Utorrent

While Utorrent is available on Android devices, this guide will only work for the Windows and Mac versions of Utorrent. In this guide, we’ll show you how to stop these ads without using any third-party software, such as an ad blocker.

The easiest way to stop ads in Utorrent is to pay a monthly subscription for their premium service, but if you’re not interested in any other benefits that the premium comes with, this guide will serve you well. Now, let’s block those ads!

Step 1: Access advanced settings

Start up your Utorrent and select Options, then Preferences and click on Advanced.

Step 2: Mark items as ‘False’

Use the Filter box on the right-hand side to search for the following flags and mark them as False by right-clicking on them:

  • offers.left_rail_offer_enabled/left_rail_offer
  • gui.show_plus_upsell
  • offers.sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled/=>
  • sponsored_torrent_offer_enabled
  • bt.enable_pulse
  • gui.show_notorrents_node
  • Offers.content_offer_autoexec

Make sure to double-check the flags you disable because disabling the wrong one could affect Utorrent’s functionality. You may also find that your version of Utorrent doesn’t have some of these flags; just disable the ones that you do find. If you get it right then, you won’t see any more ads on Utorrent.

Creating Your Own Ad Blocker

We know that the advanced settings button on any program can sometimes look a little intimidating, but with our guide in hand, you should be able to tackle Utorrent’s advanced settings with ease. If you do struggle, though, then maybe look at using a third-party adblocker or subscribing to Utorrent’s premium; we have seen reports from people who couldn’t find the right flags because they were named differently. Most of the time, though, this method is the best way to get back to torrenting in peace, uninterrupted by those pesky ads.
